At a meeting on June 28, 1919, in Mount Carroll, a group of Carroll County farmers established the organization known as the Carroll County Farm Bureau®. The objectives were to promote the business and economic interest of farmers through the development of legislation, information, business services, and educational programs.
The same objectives hold true today more than 100 years later. Throughout the years, our organization has developed great leaders which have led to our success as an organization. The Carroll County Farm Bureau won the President’s Award for our membership group in 1987, 1989, 1990, and 1994. Our Young Leaders continue to win excel as they have won the Harvest for All Award twelve times and we have had finalists in the Excellence in Ag or Achievement Award, eight times.
The organization began with just 375 farmers and has grown to a total membership today of 2200. In 1990, the Carroll County Farm Bureau Foundation was formed to promote ag education and research. We work closely with our affiliates, Carroll Service Company, and COUNTRY Financial. To date, the Foundation has given over $106,200 in scholarships.
